The tee box isn't the only place you can hit a bomb.  As any golfer knows, putting is way more than standing behind the ball and plumb bobbing your putter to see the break and slope.  There are many variables involved: face angle, path/arc, speed, start line, grain and slope.  Eliminating as many variables as possible to consistently start your ball on the right line and speed is the key to hitting better lags and holing more putts.

The Bomb Plate putting trainer is a powerful tool to help you make the most of your time practicing on the putting green.  From a stroke mechanics perspective, the Bomb Plate provides instant feedback on your eye position, putter face angle, path/arc and start line. This feedback guides your corrections and enables you to groove a consistent and accurate putting stroke.

Bomb Plate can also improve your ability to read greens. When you eliminate variables in your putting stroke and start the ball on a consistent line every time, you can evaluate and improve your green reading skills and take that with you to the course.

Bomb Plate FAQ's

How do I use the Bomb Plate?

  1. The first step is to identify a straight (non-breaking) putt, approximately 5 ft. from the hole or your target and align the Bomb Plate straight at the target.
  2. Secure the Bomb Plate to the putting surface with a minimum of 4 standard golf tees. The gate at the front (small end) of the Bomb Plate has 2 settings - a wider learning mode and a narrow expert (we call it "sniper") mode. To start, you can secure the back of the Bomb Plate at the far outside corners.
  3. The center of the plate has a small detent that will hold the ball. After placing a ball on the detent, directly behind the ball is a perpendicular alignment line that you can match your clubface with to ensure it is square.
  4. Start putting!

Why is the top mirrored?

So you can see where your eyes are in relation to the ball and the target line. Why is this important?

A foundational step to building a dependable putting stroke is always addressing the ball in your putting stance with your eyes in the same position. The mirrored surface and the alignment lines allow you to see exactly where your eyes fall when the putt looks aligned at your target. There are other non-mirrored putting aids on the market that simply cannot meet the level of eye location precision available in the Bomb Plate

Getting ready for a big match? Use the Bomb Plate while you're warming up to make sure your putting stance and stroke are locked in before you tee off.

What are the holes for?

Each set of holes has a different purpose. The good news is you can mix and combine them in a lot of unique ways to work on particular areas of. your putting stroke.

  1. Ball Gates - Two pair of holes at the front - the inside pair are spaced a bit more generously to allow some forgiveness while you groove your stroke. The outside pair are a bit narrower and demand increased precision in your putting stroke. We call it "sniper mode" - if you can consistently roll your ball through this gate, we may be watching you on TV soon.
  2. Putter Gates - Three pair of holes sized to accommodate common putter head sizes. Use these to frame the heel and toe of your putter at address. If you have problems striking the middle of the putter face - the instant feedback you get when you hit one of the gates will quickly guide you to perfect center face contact
  3. Stroke Arc Gates - Three pairs of differently spaced gates that can be used to make sure you don't swing to far in or out on your back stroke.

*A custom Gate Peg kit (sold separately) is available and can be used with the Bomb Plate for indoor practice.

How is the Bomb Plate different than other Putting Aids?

The Bomb Plate has included proven features from other golf putting aids that are in use by Tour professionals worldwide and taken it up a notch. The size, shape, configuration and finish have been carefully engineered to provide precise feedback in the areas that are important to players. We were careful to not over-complicate the design. Simple is good. There are no plastic parts to break or snag when storing in your golf bag. This device is meant to be used and designed to last.

The Bomb Plate is made from the highest quality 304 Stainless Steel and is only 1.5mm thick (LESS than 1/16" thick). Note that it's normal for some fine scratches to appear on the mirrored surface with use - they don't impact the function of the device and is normal.

Excellent training aid.

First this putter training aid is made of metal and the posts are screwed into the holes. It is very durable and should last forever. I had some trouble when first starting practice with it. I quickly noticed how inconsistent I was with path, face angle etc, etc. I had to move the front post to the second holes until I improved. Had started practicing with it on my putting mat at home for about 10 minutes a day. That's when I starting improving. I have gotten a little better on the 3 to 5 foot putts and have improved at starting my longer putts on a better line. Net results are begining to show up in lowering my putts per round. All in all I would say it is well worth the money.
